Craft in medical laboratory technology(TEP)

This is a 2 year KNEC course under technical education programme(TEP) which aims to impact learners with fundamental knowledge and skills on how to handle various clinical specimens in order to obtain medical information of a patient so as to help in diagnosis. Qualification to pursue craft in medical laboratory technology is a KCSE mean grade C-(minus) with cluster subjects of: C (plain) in English OR Kiswahili , Mathematics OR Physics/Physical science ,Biology/Biological science and Chemistry OR any other qualification that KNEC approves. Career opportunities in craft in medical laboratory technology are being employed in public/private hospitals, Government and Non governmental organizations medical research centres. Graduates of craft in medical laboratory technology can also proceed to diploma in medical laboratory technology.

Diploma in medical laboratory technology(TEP)

This is a 3 year KNEC course under technical education programme(TEP) which aims to impact learners with advanced knowledge and technical skills on how to handle various clinical laboratory specimens in order to obtain medical information of a patient so as to help in diagnosis of various diseases. Qualification to pursue KNEC diploma in medical laboratory technology is a minimum KCSE mean  grade C (plain) with cluster subjects of: C+ (plus) in English OR Kiswahili, C+(plus) in mathematics OR physics and C+ (plus) in Biology OR Biological science and chemistry(or physical science) OR a pass in relevant craft course that KNEC approves. Career opportunities in diploma in medical laboratory technology is a being employed in hospitals and research institutions. Graduates can also choose to proceed to degree level in this field or other related fields.
