Social Work

Craft certificate in social work and community development is a KNEC course under TEP craft certificate line of courses.

To pursue this course,a student is required to have obtained the following minimum qualification(s)

• KCSE mean grade D(plain)
• Pass in relevant related course
• An equivalent qualification as approved by KNEC

The duration for this course is (2) years inclusive of a compulsory industrial attachment at the end of the 2 year period.

• Community worker in government,Non-governmental organizations(NGo’s) and community based organizations.

A successful graduate of this course can proceed to diploma in social work and community development.

Diploma in social work and community development is a KNEC course under TVET diploma line of courses.

To pursue this course, a student ought to have obtained the following minimum qualification(s).

• A pass in relevant craft certificate course OR
• KCSE Mean grade C-(Minus) OR
• an Equivalent qualification as approved by KNEC

The duration for this course is (3) years covered in three modules including a compulsory industrial attachment at the end of the course period

Upon completion of diploma in social work and community development,a Student can proceed to a relevant related degree course OR

choose among the following employment opportunities.

• Social community worker in a Government or Non-Government organization(NGo)
• Community health expert in Maternal health,child health and mental health issues.
• Social events community mobilizer.
